OUR LOCKDOWN FOOD DISASTER PROJECT
The concepts used in this website have been taken from a book entitled STRATEGIC LEARNING by Prof Willie Pietersen. Prof Pietersen is currently the Professor of the Practice of Business at Columbia University, New York. He was born in Tarkastad Eastern Cape, attended Selborne College East London and Rhodes University. He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and studied Law at Oxford. After practising Law in Cape Town he embarked on a career in International Business heading up several multinational businesses before embarking on a teaching career.
THE PLIGHT OF KLAPMUTS
Many residents of Klapmuts are employed by substantial businesses and very wealthy individuals in the neighbouring towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. Klapmuts, on the other hand, is a very poor town with few businesses and only a handful of relatively well-off residents and farmers. The plight of Klapmuts lies in the fact that very little of the charitable funds raised in the area of the three big neighbouring towns flows into Klapmuts. This essentially is its plight. The reality is, Klapmuts has to fend for itself with very little available resources.
WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED – PLEASE DONATE
R400 (GBP 20) (USD 25) WILL FEED A KLAPMUTS FAMILY OF FOUR FOR A MONTH.
THE KLAPMUTS COMMUNITY TRUST HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO MANAGE THE FINANCIAL AFFAIRS OF THE FORUM. SCROLL DOWN FOR BANKING DETAILS.
OUR CORE PURPOSE
ASPIRATION THROUGH UPLIFTMENT
To triumph over the challenges of Klapmuts by supporting the community to ASPIRE to a better life and opportunities by UPLIFTMENT in the areas of basic nutrition, health, education, security and employment. During the Coronavirus Lockdown also to undertake a Food Disaster Project.
OUR WINNING PROPOSITION
We will win by assembling a dedicated team that
• Embraces our vision and culture
• Appreciates the need to involve the whole community at every level
• Faces up to the brutal reality of Klapmuts’ plight
• Works tirelessly to hunt down local and international donors
OUR BIG FIVE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
1. Secure regular donor funding
2. Undertake a thorough and on-going assessment and understanding of the needs within the community
3. Provide basic food parcels to those in desperate need
4. Support the school in order to ensure that it functions properly as a true beacon of hope and opportunity for all our young people
5. Initiate community-building projects. Town clean up. Choir. Self-help gardening etc. (In reality, these can only be undertaken when the Corona Lockdown is lifted)
OUR CULTURE: WHAT WE STAND FOR
• At all times and at every opportunity we will put the interests of the community first – there will be no place for any personal or political agendas and we will always strive for consensus
• Ensure fairness is applied within the community in the execution of all our activities
• Be transparent and honest in all our dealings with whomsoever
• We will deliver on our promises and ensure that the job is completed on time
• We will go about tasks cheerfully and with a spring in our step, however hard the road ahead may be
